Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully before using DiscUs.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using DiscUs ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

DiscUs is operated from Australia. By using the Service, you acknowledge that your use is subject to Australian law.

2. Description of Service

DiscUs is a disc collection management platform that allows you to:

  • Catalogue your Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K UHD collection via barcode scanning
  • Check current market prices via eBay marketplace data
  • Trade and list discs with other collectors
  • Interact with the community via Galaxy Hub chat
  • Track wishlists, ratings, and collection statistics

The Service is provided "as is" and pricing data is for informational purposes only. DiscUs does not guarantee the accuracy of third-party pricing data.

3. User Accounts

Registration: You must provide a valid email address and create a display name. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.

Display Names: Display names must be unique, between 3-20 characters, and must not contain offensive, impersonating, or misleading content. We reserve the right to change or revoke display names that violate our guidelines.

One Account: Each person may maintain only one account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent bans or rate limits is prohibited.

Age Requirement: You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.

4. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Harass, abuse, or threaten other users
  • Post spam, offensive content, or misleading listings
  • Attempt to scrape, bulk download, or systematically extract data from the Service
  • Circumvent rate limits, access controls, or security measures
  • Impersonate other users or DiscUs staff
  • Use automated bots to access the Service without permission
  • Redistribute third-party data (including eBay pricing data) obtained through the Service

Violations may result in temporary or permanent suspension of your account.

5. Third-Party Data & Attribution

eBay: Pricing and listing data is provided by eBay via their official API. eBay and the eBay logo are trademarks of eBay Inc. DiscUs is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by eBay.

TMDB: Movie and TV show metadata is provided by The Movie Database (TMDB). DiscUs uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

Pricing Disclaimer: Market values, deal scores, and price estimates shown in DiscUs are for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as financial advice. Actual selling prices may vary.

6. Intellectual Property

The DiscUs name, logo, branding, and original source code are the property of DiscUs. User-generated content (library data, reviews, messages) remains the property of the user, but you grant DiscUs a license to display and use it within the Service.

You may not copy, modify, or distribute the DiscUs application or its proprietary features (including the DiscUs Deal Score algorithm) without permission.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law:

  • DiscUs is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind
  • We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • We are not responsible for trades or transactions between users
  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service
  • Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Service (if any)

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. Upon deletion, all your data will be permanently removed.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice. Banned users may not create new accounts.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Western Australia.
